  • Do you offer Key Cover?

    Yes, we can provide key cover when your insured key is lost, damaged or stolen.  The policy will provide details of a qualified local locksmith and arrange the safe return of your keys if they are recovered.


    The Benefits
    • £1,500 annual cover for locksmith’s charges, new locks and keys, car hire and onward transport costs. The re-programming of immobilisers, infra-red handsets and alarms is also covered

    • There is no limit to the number of claims you may make within the annual cover limit

    • 24 hour 365 days a year Emergency Helpline

    • You can claim on this policy without affecting your “No Claims Bonus” on your other insurance policies


    As with all insurance policies, there are limits to the cover and we always recommend our customers read through the policy wording prior to purchasing a policy.

  • Do you offer Touring Caravan Legal Expenses Insurance?

    Yes, we can offer a legal expenses policy, please see the Product Information Document for further details.

  • I don’t own my touring caravan; can I still purchase the policy?

    No, we would not be able to provide a policy.  We can only provide cover for a caravan that you own.  

  • Who can purchase the policy?

    We can only provide a policy to UK residents who are permanently residing in the UK. 

    To qualify as a valid resident for the purposes of our Touring Caravan Insurance, you will have spent at least 6 of the last 12 months in the UK, and will spend at least 6 of the following 12 months in the UK.

    If you are staying in the UK on a Visa, you will be covered providing your insurance policy will expire within the duration of your Visa.

    We're not permitted to write insurance to non-UK residents at this time.   Additionally, residents of The Isle of Mann and the Channel Islands are not permitted to purchase our caravan insurance.

  • How can I pay?

    You can pay your premium as a one-off payment or in monthly instalments if the premium is over £120.00

  • Where am I covered?

    Cover applies whilst your caravan is within the United Kingdom, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands and for up to 60 days during the period of insurance in Europe.

    We do have a specialist Underwriter who can extend policy coverage up to a maximum of 240 days, please contact us on 0330 094 5256 for further information and to obtain a quote.

  • What is ‘Market Value’ cover?

    The second-hand value of an item at the time a claim is made taking account of specification, age, depreciation and condition immediately prior to the damage.

    Perhaps an easier way to think of this term is 'What I would get if I sold my caravan now?'.

    We are unable to provide this cover to caravans over 15 years old.

  • What is ‘New for Old’ cover?

    ‘New for Old’ cover means we will replace your insured caravan with the latest model of the closest specification.

    The caravan’s value that you insure should be the amount it would cost to replace with a new model of the closest specification.

    We can offer ‘New for Old’ cover on touring caravans up to 5 years old.

  • I need to change or cancel my policy, are there any fees?

    If you have purchased a policy on or after the 13 August 2019 then the following fees will apply:

    • Policy Arrangement Fees
      • Touring Caravan - £7.50
    • Mid Term Adjustments
      • Touring Caravan - £10.00
    • Cancellations
      • Touring Caravan - £10.00 

    Please note that administrative fees are non-refundable.


  • What is the age limit on 'New for Old' cover on a Touring Caravan policy?

    The age limit for 'New for Old' cover on a Touring caravan Policy is 5.  

    New for Old cover applies if your caravan or equipment is damaged beyond repair and the cost of replacing it exceeds the cost of repairing it.  If you have this option selected on your policy and this scenario arises, then you will receive a new replacement of the same make and model (or as far as possible to a similar specification).

  • Do you provide Green Cards when I travel to Europe with my Caravan?

    No, we do not issue Green Cards for your caravan insurance policy.  If you require a Green Card for driving abroad, you will need to contact your motor insurers.  

    Green Cards are certificates of insurance that proves visiting motorists have the minimum compulsory insurance cover required by law of the country your are visiting.


  • I need to cancel my Touring Caravan policy, do I get a refund?

    You may cancel your policy at any time.  If you are cancelling within the 14 day cooling off period from purchase then a full refund will apply providing you haven't made a claim on the policy.

    If you wish to cancel you policy after the 14 day cooling off period then you will receive a proportionate refund of premium.  There will be no refund of premium if you have made a claim.  

  • I have had a previous claim, can I still get cover?

    You will need to ensure previous claims from the past 5 years are declared when purchasing a policy.  

    Please note that if you have had 3 or more claims in the last 5 years, we will not be able to provide you with a policy.

  • Can you cover car transporter trailers?

    We are unable to provide a policy for a car transporter trailer.

  • Are there any types of Caravan you cannot cover?

    Our standard policy cannot provide cover for:

    * We do have a specialist underwriter who would be able to provide a bespoke quote for customers with a Hobby Touring Caravan.

  • Who underwrites the policies?

    We have a number of different underwriters that we use for our caravan insurance depending on the cover you need.  Our underwriters are:

    Ptarmigan Underwriting UK

    AmTrust Europe Limited

    Arch Insurance Company (Europe) Limited

  • Where and how must my Touring Caravan be stored?

    When your are not using your Touring Caravan, this must be stored either at your permanent home address or secure storage facility.

    Your permanent home address must not be a commercial property.

    The secure storage facility must have the entrance/exit is restricted to authorised persons only. The access must be secured with either a locked gate or barrier with a key entry and exit, with swipe card entry and exit or with key coded entry and exit.

    When not being towed, being used on a caravan site or in a secure storage facility, your caravan must be fitted with a hitch lock and wheel clamp or axle lock.  If using a wheel clamp, this must meet the the ‘Sold Secure’ ‘Gold’ level of security protection.


  • What is the maximum age of Touring Caravan you can cover?

    The maximum age of a Touring Caravan that we can cover is 14 years.

  • How do I make a claim?

  • What does my policy cover me for?

    Your policy covers you for accidental damage and theft of your touring caravan, trailer tent or folding camper described in your policy schedule and which cannot be moved under its own power.

    Cover includes damage to or loss of the structure, fixtures, fittings and integral fitted furniture and also covers associated caravan equipment but NOT personal belongings.

    This insurance will provide cover, up to a maximum total of 60 days during the period of insurance, while the insured caravan is in Europe (including sea crossings and in the Channel Tunnel).

  • Can you offer cover for permanent residence or business use?

    No, use of the Touring Caravan must be for leisure purposes only and not in connection with any business, profession or for hire.

    We are unable to offer a policy to anyone permanently living in a Touring Caravan.

  • Can my friends and family use the caravan?

    Yes, your family and friends can stay in your caravan with your permission. 

    Please note there are restrictions on who can tow your caravan, under our standard policy only the policyholder or their spouse can tow the caravan however we do have alternative underwriters who may be able to assist, please call us on 0330 094 5256 for further information.


  • Am I still insured if I let the caravan out?

    The policy excludes Loss or Damage if the caravan is let for financial reward.

  • What is the excess on a Touring Caravan policy?

    Our standard policies charge a £100.00 excess per claim however we do have alternative policies that carry higher excess depending on the caravan and risk covered. 

    We also have an insurer who will allow you to volunteer an excess to add to the compulsory excess which can help to keep your premium down.

  • What level of public liability is included on the policy?

    Our Touring Caravan policy covers Public Liability up to £2,000,000

  • What is the maximum value of caravan and equipment I can insure?

    Our standard policy can cover caravan and equipment (combined) up to £35,000 however we may be able to offer cover up to £40,000 through our underwriters, please call us to enquire further on 0330 094 5256.
