What is Professional Indemnity?

Professional Indemnity, or PI cover can sound like a daunting and confusing term if you’ve not heard it before – especially if you’re new to the world of insurance. But like most jargon, it’s actually pretty easy to get to grips with once you understand it.

Essentially, professional indemnity cover protects you from third party claims against breaches of your professional duty in the course of your business that results in a claim against you for:

  • negligent acts, errors or omissions by You
  • dishonest or fraudulent acts or omissions by Employees
  • unintentional libel, slander or defamation by You
  • unintentional breach of confidentiality by You /li>

Fortunately, professional indemnity claims are very rare, but when it comes to protecting your business, some things aren’t worth having to worry about.

How Do I Get Professional Indemnity Cover?

There are two ways you can add professional indemnity cover for your photography insurance with Eversure. Firstly, when you build a standard photography insurance quote you can add PI cover as an optional extra, alongside many other benefits we provide.

You can also add PI cover when you choose our exclusive “Public Liability-only” cover, which is ideal for professional photographers who may be looking for that extra bit of cover on top of their standard insurance.

What Cover Levels Do You Offer?

Here at Eversure, we offer PI cover for £75,000 or £150,000 depending on your needs.

Do I Really Need Professional Indemnity Cover?

If you’re a professional photographer, then we do recommend you take our professional indemnity cover. Whilst cases of it are very rare, if you work directly with clients then it’s always good to be comprehensively insured for the long term protection of your business.

I you’re not a professional and only use your camera and equipment as a hobby, then professional indemnity isn’t really something you need to worry about.

How Do I Claim?

Due to their complex nature, professional indemnity claims often require more investigation than other claims. We know that your business means the world to you, which is why we’ve tried to make our claims process as simple as possible so that should you need to claim, it’s as stress-free as we can make it.
